Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is based on the belief that many chronic health conditions and diseases are the result of imbalances in how the body functions and can be improved through lifestyle interventions. Rather than addressing a patient’s symptoms solely through medication or procedures, functional medicine is personalized to each patient’s root causes of disease.

One condition or disease may have numerous causes, varying by individual depending on a person's genetics, environment, and lifestyle. Similarly, one root cause can lead to a variety of conditions or diseases.

Working with a functional medicine practitioner, patients address key modifiable lifestyle factors: nutrition, exercise and movement, sleep and relaxation, stress, and relationships as they journey toward good health.
